You can’t fight me

Running soundlessly, I try to get as far away from here as possible.
How could I let him get into my head?

How could I? He has no humanity in him but why does it feel like a lie?

No, I’m going soft. Oh, no.

I must go away soon for I can’t let myself fall for him.

I can’t.

“Leaving so soon?” He emerges suddenly through the maze of trees, his dark wings spread wide.

Afraid, I take a step back but he is fast. In a flash, he is here, staring daggers in my direction.

“I’m leaving.”

“You can leave but I would still stay here, however much you hate it,” he replied, motioning towards his heart.

“You can’t fight me,” he said coming closer and closer, challenging me to disobey.
“In your dreams,” I spat.

He laughs darkly and says, “How ironic!”

Confused I try to compose myself. No where to run, I begin to panic.

Her eyes snap open, adjusting to the darkness of of her room, she checks the time, 3 a.m.

“No more reading before bed now, giving me exciting nightmares,” she scolds herself and slips into a deep sleep just as a black feather twitches lazily by the foot of her bed.
