Expectation vs reality

Let’s get straight to business!

(Things written in Italics describe the thoughts in my mind!)

Getting work done

Expectation – After I wake up from this power nap in one hour, I’m going to finish that write up, do chores, finalise project topic and finish that book.

Reality – What day/year/century is this? Who am I? Where am I? Why am I?

Mom – “Finally! You’ve been sleeping for 4 hours, get up now.”

A walk in nature

Expectation ~  A long undisturbed walk with fresh breeze, rustling leaves, sweet earthy smell, musings and perhaps a chance encounter with Mr Rochester even?

Reality ~ *While walking on joggers track in park*

Ah! So airy and cold, amazing!

Eek, flies, more flies. Walk fast!”

Someone from behind – “Excuse me.”
Me – “Oh sorry, go ahead, you too, oh you can too. Careful! Don’t run your bike on my foot, child.”

Ugh, let me try the grass.

Ew, creeps, annoying creeps. Ew, don’t look at me.  Let’s stick to the track!

Ah! Track isn’t so bad!”

From somewhere – “Grrr..Grrrrrrrr”

“Bow-wow, bow-wow, bow-wow!”

Oh uh!  That’s an army of dogs, well that’s enough walk for me today, time to leave, time to leave!

Act chill or they’ll notice!

Tasty food

Expectation – Take a small portion and focus on healthy stuff.

Reality –  *Standing in front of mirror, starters, pizza slices, pasta and mandatory extremely high caloried shameless dessert indulgence later*

Is it possible to explode because of overeating? What have I done? I hate myself!

Expectation – Ah! It’s been a long day, let me relax and watch something for a while😄

Reality – Flick

I have seen this film

This too

Seriously are you subscribed to this movie?

Ugh, let’s try TV series.

Too annoying

Seen already

What’s with the expressions, are they all dead?

Enough with the seasons of this already

Let me try Hindi channels

Eek so loud

Daily Soaps

Daily Soaps

Mere Badle ki Aag! Lol how many times?!

Uu-u,  this looks good

Shoot he just died

Oh, Savdhaan India (anti-crime show)

Fine let’s listen to some music

Bulleya (a song, channels are not getting tired of playing!)

Reality show made of Indian parents’ nightmares

More reality show

More annoying songs

Ugh love story show

Another love story? Seriously you guys are like 13, do you even know the table of 13?

Ugh! There’s nothing to watch on TV, I’m turning it off.

Let me try one last time

Please tell me I’m not alone here. What are some of your expectation vs reality situations?

  1. I was smiling all the while and getting my checklist too, but your constant ‘Bulleya’ is now making me laugh harder than a hyena😂😂😂 your sense of humour has been too understated till now V😂

      1. I would say almost all ticks match 😂but most of all I agree with your myth vs reality of nature walk, that too in Delhi’s so-called upmarket parks😂To add to your experiences there, I have also accidently bumped into “close couples” (mind you even without the bushes ) and also stepped on some rich dog’s organic matters in the midst of walking tracks !! Can’t decide which was worse and more embarrassing of the two 😂

      2. Hahaha! Shoot that’s honestly embarrassing😰😂 but funny at the same time😂 kuch nai ho sakta longo ka!
Sometimes there are more dogs than people in the parks too😭 and those are the days I stick to road, that’s another uphill task!

  2. Loved the tv joke especially the movies. You make me laugh hard whenever you come up with a humour post. I want more of those. And my phone is not working.so I’m taking a break. I read your where are you post also. It was too good. I wish your expectation meet reality in your love life.

    1. Jeni❤ thank you dear for once again making me feel like someone actually cares what I write❤
Hahahaha I’m glad it made you laugh.😂
Thank you for your wishes about my love life too❤ means a lot!
I will try to write more of humour now 😁 and aww I wish your phone a quick recovery😄❤

  3. This is hilarious Ms Twinkling! But so true!! 🤣 Now I will have to Google Bulleya and test it out for myself…
The other one I constantly feel is about work! Everyday I have the best intentions of going to work and expect to tick off items on my list, but reality hits and the days just become a blur and before I know it I’m ready to throw in the towel and just farq it (sorry to use such strong language I just couldn’t find the right word)… 😞

    1. Aww, Jolene, you’re not alone there. Work makes us all like that, I forgot to put it there but you described it far better than me. Jobs are mean becauses bosses are mean (so I understand your need to use a strong language too!)
Thank you, I’m so glad it made you laugh😁
Be careful about Bulleya though, that word is thrown through out the song and the lyrics be like
      I lost my car
      I found my car
      I lost my car again
      I’m so useless
(They are not the actual lyrics😁😂)

  4. Okay, let’s get started shall we?
    1. My power naps last for more than 4 hours. Yes, every time I take one. So when I wake up, I already know I am in shit.
    2. Kudos to you that you at least go out for the walk. Some people has been procrastinating since years. Not me though, I will be going for a walk tomorrow.
3.I don’t watch television! But Bulleya? I dont think itna dikhate honge? And yet Mere Badale ki aag!! Oh damn, in logo ne southern movies ko promote karne ka theka le liya, each and every channel out there!

    1. The first point 😂 I so know how that feels😂
I try to be a regular walker but I’m not that regular😭 oh well, what more to say, thanks anyway!
Now how will you know if you don’t watch TV?!😂
They’re obsessed with some songs, Bulleya is one of them, besides my neighbours and people in my society in general just can’t seem to get over it!😏
Hahaha, I know right, kabi Kabi aisa hi lagta hai about South movies.
      PS. Jeene nahi doonga😂😂

  5. You certainly aren’t alone. You have such wonderful ways to bring up these sort of rather painful topics. I very much enjoy the way you write about things, keep writing my dear Twinklingwords ❤ I have been pondering on that topic for quite some time. If I remember well from my short immersion in the Buddhist philosophy, the key is to have no expectation, to have desires without any expectation attached to them. I tried/try so hard to follow this but yeah, it seems like a very hard thing to do. I found a way around the TV one, I no longer watch TV, I watch what I please on youtube but even then the adds come in from time to time now grrrr but my most annoying scenario is when I happen to meet someone and expect a friendship to form and it ends up in the drains. Also, sorry it took me so long to visit, I am not that much on WordPress. I saw if you had an option to follow your blog by email but couldn’t find one so please do not mind me, I surely will visit, your writing is too precious to be missed :0) ❤

    1. Thank you soo much! Your words of appreciation inspire me to no end. I wish there were more people like you, mature and yet having a kind heart!
Yes, yes, I excercise not having any expectations idea with people. I’ve stopped expecting anything from them years ago, it has saved me much pain.
Omg! How did I forget this so essential point. It is such a BUMMER when you think a person is different and so you somehow develop some hopes of a great friendship and then they turn out to just like others, stupid, judgemental and selfish!
Yes, same I avoid TV like wild fire now😭😂 yes I’m team YouTube too, hahaha I see what you mean, some advts can’t be forwarded too!
And that’s alright, you take your time no pressure but I will miss your company here, hope you’re not leaving? Please don’t! I won’t be able to read your work too!

      1. You are most welcome dear Twinklingwords :0) Oh so you are exercising this too :0). I should have known hihi :0) we surely are ever so similar. I must confess I have never met someone so similar to me in so many ways. It is ever so cool actually ❤ Back to the no expectation business, I find it so difficult to do but it has saved me a lot of pain too. I find I must constantly remind myself of it, it is so easy to forget somehow. Is it the same for you?
The mature non judgemental hearts seem to be scarcer and scarcer, one more reason why I am so glad to have found you here :0)
Sorry if I mislead you, I am not planning to leave, but somehow Flickr and Instagram have caught my attention more than my blog has. I intend to keep following your blog, I might be a little late that is all and I hope to post too but I am not too sure how often if you see what I mean. I am just glad you are on Insta too ❤

        Liked by 1 person

      2. Haha! Yess! I’m so surprised myself, how are we so similar?! It’s so awesome, can’t even tell you😄
Yes, absolutely, I forget that easily too, but one slap (because people and mean behaviour have become so synonymous now!) and I instantly remember it and start practicing 😭😂 (although I confess, I do pretend to the other person like he/she hasn’t affected me, when inside I’m feeling crushed! You too?
Oh sure, I can’t feel more glad that I have found such a mature and yet kind friend like you too😄
Oh sorry, I didn’t realise that. Don’t be sorry, I must have misunderstood. Yayie, it’s good news🙌🙌 yeah sure, focus on what is inspiring you more at the moment and come back here only when it is convenient, no pressure!
I’m so glad about Insta thing too😄😄

      3. Same here, people’s behaviours very quickly remind me that I have forgotten something all too essential, the zero expectation rule. I also play the steel mask as if nothing happened but something breaks inside just like for you. I would like to change that part though, I need to figure exactly how though. We might be a dash too genuine for this world, I know I certainly am. Hihi, thank you so much and indeed I am surely staying in touch with you dear Twinklingwords :0) ❤

  6. Haha! This one was indeed very very funny, I was laughing when I reached ‘Bulleya’!
Oh! TW, you have brought this stark reality of life so very well. You are definitely not alone, it is always the case where we propose and situations, humans and every living cell around us simply has to dispose! I suppose we either have to be prepared to face the unexpected or make our expectations a little more realistic, but unfortunately, our mental makeup just begs to differ and has to go ahead and expect more!
Fortunately, you have brought the humor in this bizarre situation of life very very well! Wishing you a great day my dear friend! Thank you for making me laugh :))

    1. Hey dear friend, your comment has rendered me speechless, I literally have no clue as to what I should respond to this! So I shall say thank you soooooo much for such encouraging and beautiful words. I’m smiling ear to ear, seriously!😄❤
But, you know what, you’re right, I honestly need to have realistic expectations, it would be far less annoying and irriating then!
I’m so glad it helped you in someway, pretty much one of the reasons I write😄

    1. Haan woi, flies bole toh macchar aur different type ke insects!😂😂 Faster you walk, harder for them to stay put!
And thank you for the compliment though you should know we are weird too (many of us!) 😂😂

      1. Lol! I don’t want to scare away my readers, you must be knowing how difficult it is to be pretend like you’re normal, when if God forbid, anyone reads our mind, phew they’ll end up going crazy with so many different tabs open in our mind😂😂

      2. Do you know in 2116 an asteroid will collide with earth destroying all forms of life. ……life is just too short to care what others think……..

      1. I have visited your blog before, Shivee, I think the post was Googling symptoms of a headache. It was an awesome post!

    1. Hey Mona! First of all thank you for sparing your time to read my work and even leaving such smile inducing and encouraging comments!
I’m glad you relate to them because reality is most times so different from our perceived thoughts!

  9. Ha ha…kept me smiling throughout…especially the description of the walk at jogger’s park😀. My expectation vs reality is absolutely the same as your when it comes to T.V. Haven’t watched a single Hindi serial since Bade Bhaiya ki Dulhaniyan.

    1. Thank you so so much my dear friend reading my older posts, actually means a lot. Hahaha yay I’m glad you could relate. Yeah I understand about the serials they are so horrible that you’d want to slam your head against a wall!
